Dreams are Drugs
On the topic of friendship,

A friend once told me that it takes effort and work maintain one.

Until that moment, I never really thought of it that way. I thought it was just something that happened, fortuitously , and that it maintained itself effortlessly, because you were interested in the other person and they were interested in you and you had some sort of fun together.

But I guess it’s never that easy. I guess there’s always some stupid balance of social power between groups of people and “friendships” and oneself, quotations noted.

I’ve often been given rash advice that I’ve given credit to mentally but never acted out. The thing is sometimes you have to take rash advice and stick to it. You have to let your brain, and someone else’s brain who has advised you truthfully, to outweigh your heart. It’s all clearcut in hindsight.
